ElevenLabs, an innovative startup specializing in AI-driven audio solutions, has introduced a new tool designed to enhance the quality of audio recordings by removing unwanted background noise and sounds.
This launch follows closely on the heels of their recent release of the Reader app, which allows users to convert text into spoken words using AI-generated voices of deceased celebrities. Many users often encounter the problem of background noise when recording content such as videos, podcasts, or interviews, where unwanted sounds can interfere with the main content. These noises might not be noticeable during recording but can degrade the quality of the content by obscuring or distorting the speaker's voice. Sometimes, users have to resort to using special microphones to isolate noise to address this issue.
To use the new tool, users simply need to upload the audio clip they want to enhance. Once uploaded, ElevenLabs' models process the file, detect, and remove unwanted noise, extracting the clean audio without distortion. The company claims that the new tool produces speech quality comparable to studio-recorded content. Ammar Rishi, the head of design at ElevenLabs, demonstrated the tool's effectiveness in a post on the platform X.
Sam Sklar, head of growth at ElevenLabs, mentioned that the tool is not currently designed to isolate voices from music tracks, though users are welcome to experiment as the tool may succeed in some cases. ElevenLabs' new tool is set to compete with similar solutions from major companies like Adobe, and the company plans to continually improve its performance.
ElevenLabs has not disclosed the core models behind the tool or whether uploaded recordings are used to train their AI models. However, users can opt out of having their personal data used for AI model training. The noise removal and audio enhancement tool is available on ElevenLabs' website with usage limits for free users. The company allows short clips to be processed without creating an account, and free account holders have a monthly limit of 10 minutes. Paid plans, which start at $5 per month, offer higher limits.
